Socks 🧦 In Seattle

My mission is to transform socks from being one of the most needed items for the homeless into an item they don’t need to ever worry about.

The Goal Is 10,000 🧦's In 2024

About Me

All of a sudden you find yourself stopped at a red light, you turn to the left and see someone looking at you on the street asking for money. What do you do? Roll down your window and give? Or pray that the green light hits sooner.Hi! I’m Ryan Lehman and I donate socks to the homeless. Why? Well a few years ago I was inside a deli and through the window saw someone give money to someone on the street while stopped at a red light. The homeless man then walked into the deli and used that money to buy a pack of cigarettes. Whenever I give money I always think it’s going to be used towards something that will truly help that person's life and I was shocked at what I saw.Over the years I started to get uncomfortable giving out money since I had no idea where it was going. I decided instead of not giving anything at all I would give them something I knew they would need so they don’t have to worry about making the decision themselves. The question was really hard on what does every homeless person need.If you search this question online you will find dozens of articles all pointing to socks. Socks? Yup socks. I was so shocked so I decided to find out for myself, I got some food, other necessities I thought someone homeless would need, and of course socks and took to the streets. I would go up to homeless people on the street and offer them all the different items I had. Turns out by the end of the day the only thing everyone always accepted was socks.I was convinced and started to buy socks to put into my glove compartment. Whenever I would ride to the city and there was someone asking for money at the light I was stopped at I would give them a pair of socks. After doing this for a few months I then thought, if I can open this up to get more donations I can deliver way more socks maybe someday on a much larger scale.
